More progress on the self-striping socks

I finally got to the heel on the self-striping socks. I'm not
sure if the tension is smaller on the new sock or if I stretched out
the other one from trying it on so many times. Anyway, it's great
to be making progress. The Kitchener stitch is still not done on
the 1st sock. Never thought I'd be excited about a pair of socks!

Idle Fingers? I think NOT!

My 7-yr old son has been caught in the knitting craze. Yesterday, while the older kids and dh went skiing, he begged me to teach him how to knit. It was such a precious time together. I first showed him how to hold the left hand needle, but he wanted to do both, but it was a bit too much for him to handle. Then I decided to hold the left-hand needle and have him do the right-hand needle for a couple rows. He caught on quickly and took back the left-hand needle so he could do it all by himself. I was hoping to get a few things on my to-do list done, but with the constant interruption of, "can you fix this, please?", "can you help me, please", how could I resist? Now as I am typing, he and his 10-yr old sister are busy knitting nothing in particular, but what sweetness sits on that couch!

Talk about making a mom smile!


Love those cute 7-yr old hands! Again he's been knitting off and on today. He tells me that he's done for the day, but then comes back and picks it up again. He told me now why he knows why I knit - because it's fun! I love this boy!

Rippit!! FROGGY

I'm so bummed!!! I finished the one sock except for the kitchener stitches at the toe and began the new sock and got to the heel and was dividing stitches when I realized I had cast on 80 stitches instead of 72. I don't get it. How many times did I count my stitches along the way? So, I had to rip the whole thing out!

UGH!!!

And the sad thing is that the 1st sock is slightly too big. I'm debating on ripping that one out and starting over to I can have 2 socks that really fit - or else I can give them to my mom who has larger feet than me. Decisions, decisions!

A Stitch in Time

I've decided to venture into the world of Blog. I've seen so many knitter's blogs and what a neat way to see what other crafters are doing all over the world! It only encourages me to get crafting.
